Nine seconds from the voice inside the app. On your iPhone it reads whole books like this, offline, and the words light up as they are spoken.
Your PDFs and EPUBs, read aloud on your iPhone
Read a page, and when your eyes get tired, press play. The voice starts where you stopped reading, and when you go back to reading, the page is where the voice left off.
Coming soon to the App Store For iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Free to download. It keeps reading when you lock the phone
Press play in any book and put the phone in your pocket. Play, pause and skip are on the lock screen, the speed moves in small steps, and a sleep timer stops the voice when you drift off.
The voice runs on the iPhone itself, so it reads just as well on a plane with no signal.
Save the sentence you just heard
When a line you want to keep goes by on a walk, one tap in the player saves the sentence you just heard as a highlight, with its page. The voice keeps going.
Your highlights come back before you forget them
Each day AVIDR brings back a few of your own highlights and saved words. Say how well you remembered, and the FSRS scheduler, the same one Anki offers, decides when you see each one next.
At the end of a chapter you can write down what you remember and see which of its points you covered. Everything exports to Anki and Obsidian.
“Time is but the stream I go a‑fishing in.”Walden, from your highlights
Try it: how well did you remember this line?
Tap a word you don’t know
Definitions and translations come from Apple’s frameworks on the phone, so looking a word up never sends your book anywhere. Save the word and it joins your review together with the sentence you found it in.
